SAN JUAN CITY, Philippines – Nope, they’re not now in Luneta.
The next year’s election is still too far to reach, but this had never stopped the present San Juan city mayor Guia Gomez, to seek reelection. Sadly, her vice mayor Francis Zamora, had strained relationships with her in exchange of his ambition as mayor too.
Gomez was reacting to her deputy turned political rival, Vice Mayor Francis Zamora, who said he was offering himself as an alternative to the 46-year rule of the Ejercito-Estradas in San Juan.
Recalling a longtime bond with the Zamoras, Gomez admitted she was surprised that her vice-mayor was running against her.
Fortunately, San Juan city residents have been offered now more alternatives in picking the next mayor. Recently, a certain Juan Burgos, who is also a resident of the city, had filed his certificate of candidacy. He told that the change is now, and that he aims to break the long period of Ejercito-Estrada’s hold of the local government.
With Juan Burgos running also as mayor, this is now a fight between Gomez vs. Burgos vs. Zamora in San Juan City.
