SB19 – GO UP: MV Review

Abangan.

Excited na ako, kasi for the first time ay irereview natin sila.

EVERGLOW (에버글로우) – Adios: MV Review

Side Note: Due to lack of time, we will not review UP10TION, JBJ95, THE BOYZ, and other latest performances, to focus more on X1, Filipino MV Reviews, September reviews, and misheard lyrics. Our sincerest apologies.

This is the first time we will deal with another debut group called Everglow in their song Adios.

The funny thing is that the MV follows Momoland and ITZY’s lead by using it as advertisement. Tell me if you see them twice (1) as an ad and (2) as an MV.

With their debut music gone successful, would it be the case on their new song? We’ll see it here:

The museum and desert themes are always featured in the video, and colors expresses their emotions. They made good deal featuring museums and exhibits (0:50, 2:14). Somehow, this will help in urging people to visit these mind-worthy places.

Review as whole

Expect that the views will be quite polarizing, as this does not have a definite build-up unlike Bon Bon Chocolat.

The music has mostly flutey tune at start, and heavy beats at chorus. These might tell that it has no regrets of saying goodbye.

Some points must be improved here. This is more on giving an understandable storyline. It will guide viewers, especially non-Koreans, on what the MV is all about. Another point is on sensual move at 0:23 – 0:25, which they should tone down on it.

I liked their having ID on a white suit, telling that they are introducing themselves. Unfortunately, the angles were so fast, such that we can’t read properly what’s written on IDs. Maybe the producer should consider giving them individually a bit of exposure (at least 3 seconds) if they’re going to use this uniform again.

Finally, the chant “Goodbye, au revoir, adios” would be better if played at the beginning (or at the end), and not serving as cliffhanger between pre-chorus and chorus.

Review by others

TheBiasList find the song wanting in some aspects. First is on copying (and stitching) musical concept from Stray Kids’ Side Effects, without cohesiveness. Added negative point is on monotony of hooks and “irritating” whistle which makes melody “forgettable.”

It ends by telling that it appreciates the “militaristic” chant and energy of the group, albeit not convinced on their discography.

KPopReviewed noted that the latest track follows where Bon Bon Chocolat left off. The song initially goes to hip-hop, then mixing it up as the song progresses. Visuals were interesting and cool, but he finds it difficult to interpret the storyline. It helped that the outfits reflected the fierceness they want to show.

The best compliment he gave is on the group being at par with “toughest-sounding” girl groups. It liked the song very well, and expects more people to look for the group someday.
