For our another set of MV Reviews, we will now feature X1, on their debut song called Flash. For a bit of info, the group was composed of top 11 talents who are on the same line with other Produce 101 trainees.
Unfortunately, their debut was mired with accusations of vote-rigging, which struck down to the group as well. As a consequence, it was hard for the group to secure endorsements or features. Let’s see if their agency responded to it well, as we will rate the agencies at year-end.
Hope this MV Review will help in promoting the group, and somehow, help them recover from this untoward incident. Let’s start!
Viewers will benefit from appreciation of butterflies. Somehow, beyond showing butterflies, this implies the value of them in food production. This feature will also let them appreciate beauty of nature.
Review by others
TheBiasList told that the track is in the right direction, and can be counted on as one of “iconic” releases. And even if the sound is familiar to our ears, the song Flash is arranged well. Most “robust” moment is on their pre-chorus.
Not so good point was on their chorus, which looks mediocre. It would have added hooks rather than the electronic music. This makes pre-chorus more exciting than its next part, which they must improve on.
KPopReviewed viewed Flash as quite “good” and “intense,” with dance tracks building up throughout the whole song. It also viewed the pre-chorus as the centerpiece, and the chorus as having adlibs. Visuals were his favorites. On the other hand, the weakest point was on the instrumentals getting “neutral” and dropping.
Review as whole
Their debut song shows various symbolisms, that are very simple enough to understand. First is on butterfly and kite. These things imply that they want to fly up, telling who they are and what they want to be. And second is on the title itself, which states their status as people in fame.
On music, the sparking tune can be heard in some parts. Notable example of that is from 0:10 – 0:14. The voices were also enough to make the song energetic. With regards to choreography, I find their hand moves very impressive at 0:38, since they are in sync.
For our final part, some improvements are suggested. First, while virtually all dance moves in chorus were easily learned, the difficult part is on 1:17 – 1:20. Second, figure out what 2:17 is about in relation to whole music. It can be deleted without affecting the other parts of MV. Finally, they have to make their storyline clear, or provide summary of what their MV is all about.
