FTISLAND (FT아일랜드) – Quit (관둬): MV Review

We are now on a roll of reviews, this time with FTIsland on their lead song Quit. For a bit of info, they are a band featuring four members, namely Honggi, Jaejin, Seunghyun, and Minhwan, under FNC Entertainment.

Honestly, I only knew of the group when its former member Jonghoon left, due to Burning Sun scandal. Well, anyway, with the remaining four still in shape, will they still impress us with their performance? Let’s see here:

The story tells of a woman holding a small clock last October. There she resets time to recall what happened in various months. As she wakes, and upon moving a month or so backward, she begins to realize what happened. It ends at March, where they spent their happiest moment in Paris.

Quit lets us realize that we have to treasure the moments we shared, as we don’t know what will happen later. Relations may go on forever, or come to an end. Viewers will appreciate the French vibe present in the video, especially when they feature the Eiffel tower. (0:47 – 1:04, 2:01 – 2:10, 3:18) Also, they might find drawing useful. (0:25 – 0:30)

TheBiasList explaind that Jonghoon’s absence did not gravely affect other four. Musically it plays low at the start, and adds other tunes after. Positively this lets Hongki experiment and attack the notes. On the negatives, it was not “iconic”, and serves as sequel of Hongki’s Insensible. Finally, the track being “repetitive” lacks enough “pull”.

KPopReviewed wrote that the group pulled off different range of sounds from their past tracks. This time, Hongki made an impact with his voice. Meanwhile, he was confused on the storyline.

Review as whole

The title best describes what is happening between them, and why she didn’t believe on it. On music, the rock vibe gives life despite the song being sad in nature. Also, the sense of voice is strong, evoking feelings especially at near final chorus and finale.

On visuals, this was a kind of throwback. It’s pleasing that they pulled their story very clearly. In fact, they added a film-like motions, representing snapshots in time.
