VICTON (빅톤) – Nostalgic Night: MV Review

With so many tasks at work, other November releases might be reviewed a bit late or next month.

Honestly, it’s very difficult now to crunch time, considering that’s measly given to me. Again, our sincerest apologies.

For our another short review, we will feature Victon, in their song Nostalgic Night.

It can be remembered that Victon lost in the spotlight, as it did not have enough attention wanted to keep going. With survival show going on, their fans are also growing, such that the venue became insufficient to hold a fanmeeting.

With 17 months of hiatus dragging them, added with Seungwoo leaving the group for X1 a while, would this comeback bring outstanding performance? Let’s see:

(Side Note: Congratulations to VICTON for their first win!)

Storyline as whole

In a night, where it’s raining, the members are reminiscing moments with friends amidst memorable places, now wrecked or abandoned.

With regards to music, the pulsating tunes is hidden but can be heard throughout the video. It is best described as balance between the happy side (as demonstrated by instrumentals and raps), and the sad side (represented by the storyline and the night itself).

In this case, it felt lacking in another final chorus to give it a definite ending and an explosive finish. I find it surprising that the song ended abruptly.

It’s good to note that PlayM is also featuring the 1theK logo consistently. Not only is it featured at start, but also at 0:13, where the same served as signage.

Review by others

Out of frustration for Golden Child’s long hiatus, TheBiasList researched on other groups’ similar fates. It revealed that Victon got into hiatus for 17 months. And still, the comeback really did not compensate well. Points lacking include downbeat verses, uncharming instrumentals, and slow energy. On a bit of positives, Night has speedy tempo, and its EDM has potentials.

KPopReviewed deemed the song as picking up what Time Of Sorrow left off, but it stands chance of shining among other recent boy group releases. The melodies were dynamic and light, and raps moderated the supposed gloomy mood of the song. He went even far to explain the storyline behind it.
