BTS (방탄소년단) – Make It Right (feat. Lauv): MV Review

For our another review of BTS, we will touch on their recent release called Make It Right.

For a bit of info, the song is essentially composed by the group, in collaboration with Ed Sheeran. The group later performed it with Lauv, a rising singer-songwriter. This song is part of underrated tracks under the album Map of the Soul: Persona.

As this is their special release, and since reviewers did not touch on this, we will review it. Let’s start!

(Side Note: We wish to mention BigHit’s swift responses over Jungkook and the tattoo shop, plus the car accident. It’s not surprising that responses like this are one of secrets for group’s success and agency as well.)

The story tells of a boy and a girl strolling together. Sensing that the boy needs comfort and protection, the girl transforms herself into a cape. This was the case as the boy travels in different places, till they encountered a dragon. Story ends with the boy defeating a dragon, and thanking the girl, who later transforms to old self.

This part intertwines with BTS interacting with fans in a concert.

Review as whole

Essentially this is another song dedicated to their fans. The title as for the BTS speaks of their desire to do right, together with the fandom.

The modified flutey tune is heard in most parts of the song, especially at the chorus. On the first verse, second part, the percussion can be heard. It resumes at the second verse before the bridge.

Symbolisms can be seen here. As interpreted by others, cartoon represents the story of BTS strolling with ARMYs together, as they travel various places like desert, snow, and cave.

Most conspicuous is on the cape, which represents ARMYs. As for BTS, they view their fans as shield and protection.

Message of thanks

As military service is looming upon the members, BTS focused its time on thanking ARMYs and making them feel special. This was the case starting with Boy With Luv, and then again on this special comeback.

The boy lying amidst the desert reminds us of RM’s line at Boy With Luv. There he stated that “their suffering is our suffering too,” clearly emphasized in this MV.

Joketime and reward

The most common joke on this has been recognized also by Lauv himself:

The author will add ten additional points for BTS, as reward for complete attendance in virtually all engagements. They deserve long breaks and this incentive, since they really worked hard.
