Momoland (모모랜드) – Thumbs Up: MV Review

With various unfortunate incidents in K-Pop, we will be strict in MV reviews and dealings in this site.

In cases like this, the Japanese “zero-tolerance” approach will be implemented to our K-Pop activities starting this year.

For our select reviews of December releases, we will review Momoland in their song Thumbs Up.

Still, wrong decisions are being pursued. It only provided comeback after all the issues, hiatus, and lost opportunities. And after making a comeback like nothing’s happened, what’s next? Let’s start!

(Side Note: The author removed Momoland in its bias list, and replaces it with DreamNote. Not a Merry anymore, but a new Page.)

Overview

Thumbs Up tells a story of girls having a delivery, consistently excelling themselves to meet the demands of their customers. For every parcel delivered, they do thumbs up. Since demands are incessant, they use various vehicles (like rocket ship) and strategies (like breaking a wall) to accomplish deliveries.

The music uses melody different from its previous tracks, even with same basic structure. As is with I’m So Hot, they still utilize the Thumbs Up hook at the chorus. While the hook reminds us of T-ara’s music, it basically ruined what’s memorable in this song. This therefore puts Bboom Bboom’s success in vain.

Some featured bits need to be considered. 1theK logo is still seen, though it has a new look. Furthermore, the music video looks back to Pororo, which somehow reminds us of their soft comeback Banana Chacha. Funny scene points out to 0:56 where co-workers get surprised by a hard stamp.

Complaints list

With Daisy still not included, we can surmise that she is deemed out of the group.

Felt absolutely disgusted on the group and agency not taking appropriate responses. These involve lack of transparency on agency’s part for several months, Dabin’s priorities, response to dating issues (like JooE not being careful which made her entangled in “dating scandal”), incomplete attendance overseas, and giving headaches to Merries. That’s gross negligence on their part.

Permanent change

While I do forgive the group and agency, we have to do something to prevent a repeat of these incidents. Hence, the pull-down factors on our year-end ratings and MV Reviews. (This will amount to 20 points.)

Plus, we will not give any considerations to the group if they be absent overseas, regardless of reasons.

Why? The agency and the group still continues to be shady, despite releasing the music. They haven’t still released apologies for the delays they made. These kinds of unprofessional attitude spilled well onto Cherry Bullet and FNC, and that’s something we should not tolerate.

These changes will be a permanent feature in every MV Review till their disbandment. Same goes for other groups who might experience these scenarios. It is a simple but strong reminder for K-Pop to take these issues seriously.

I’m Not A Merry Anymore

Today, I’m not a Merry anymore.

Merries are still shocked upon learning of Taeha and Dabin’s departure. For one, Taeha opted to pursue new paths, and Dabin is still groping with schedule conflicts between acting and being a K-Pop artist.

What makes matters complicated is that MLD Entertainment still does not issue statements and apologies for delay for several months. This proves their unprofessional side. We will discuss further these things as we rate agencies and the group some time.

As Daisy is still “under negotiations”, I’m not surprised if she might be no longer part of it. This will surely have negative consequences if this happens. In fact, some international Merries told that Daisy was the reason they became part of the fandom.

With all these things, what’s the sense of being a “Merry”, if me and fellow fans are not happy with these?

Thank you

So, thanks to all Merries who genuinely care for the group. Thank you also for making me once part of this fandom for one and a half year. However, recent events pushed me to leave the fandom like everyone else.

Starting November 30 this year, TweetNewscaster is not following the group anymore, and is now leaving the fandom. The author is also withdrawing support for the group. Consequently, all members are no longer my biases, and Momoland is now out from my bias list forever.

Effects

Starting November 30, failing grade will be given in reviews of their future releases. No special incentives will be given to them anymore in future reviews (unlike BTS, (G)I-DLE, and TWICE).

Worse, if any member is absent on group’s TV appearances, extra pull-down factor will be added in future reviews. No considerations will be given to Momoland at all regardless of reasons, especially on absences.

These things would be better off than hating them outright. Hating the group will be a waste of time and energy.

It does not make sense following them with these kinds of attitude, and if they are still incomplete. And to put it bluntly, it’s senseless to follow them if the group and the agency aren’t learning any lessons at all.

MOMOLAND (모모랜드) – Love Is Only You (사랑은너하나): MV Review

For the fourth time, we are now reviewing again MOMOLAND, with their song Love Is Only You. This is made in collaboration with Erik, a Vietnamese singer. This is a soft collaboration, and the video only features four out of nine members, namely Hyebin, Yeonwoo, JooE, and Nayun.

Now that they made another collaboration, we may have wondered on what happened to the group. Have they considered some points we noticed earlier? Had they learned a bit of lesson from other groups?

Pardon if I will be very candid on this review. We will discuss these later, but you may watch first their MV before proceeding to review proper.

Storyline

  1. Video must have a storyline – 5 points

The storyline revolves on the four girls in a coffee shop. They imagined the guy facing each one of them, only to find out themselves waking each other from imagination. They later realized that the guy is going somewhere else, leaving them sad.

1theK, in its YouTube page, provided a storyline on this MV:

MOMOLAND’s new song ‘Love Is Only You’ is a ballad that is somewhat different from the girl band’s previous ‘exciting’ concept, portraying the longing for the loved one emotionally.

The song exquisitely described the lyrics like a lyric poem as presented in ‘a lonely island and a star’ with the heartrending medium tempo melody as if watercolor runs.

  1. Theme must be consistent and clear – 5 points

The theme is very consistent on featuring the coffee shop.

Lessons

  1. Moral lesson must be clearly stated – 5 points

That is more on bridging dreams with reality. To win the man they love, they should have expressed their feelings to him, and not just imagine. Otherwise, their imagination will not come true.

  1. They must impart something beneficial for their viewers – 5 points

Yeonwoo teaches us on how to prepare coffee in the first thirty-two (32) seconds of the video. This might inspire more persons to take vocational courses related to this.

Other Matters

  1. Inject sense of humor in the music video – 5 points

Let’s start at 3:13, where they wake each other from reality. Look at how they react. Other than that, I did not find the rest of the video funny.

  1. Ability of the song to make it to mainstream media – 1 point.

They stepped a bit backward from their usual energetic songs. While this served as their “break”, we’re not sure if this will be picked by mainstream media, unlike their previous songs.

  1. Review by other sites – 3 points

Ever wondered why Obsessed and Assessed haven’t made any review on the group. Definitely, the group will get reprimand from that reviewer.

TheBiasList made a very good observation on the group. While they were successful in 2018, here comes the downturn this year. On the song, it would not be as popular, as many are used to them doing energetic moves.

  1. Review of the music video as a whole – 2 points

Pardon also for the score. Can’t see that they are complete. Though the voices of other three can be heard, it’s best to include them with Daisy and Taeha. We’ll discuss this later.

They made a good deal featuring Hyebin, Nayun, and JooE, and this let us speculate on their next comeback.

  1. Other factors
  • Looks – 5 points

Yeonwoo returned with her previous look, and with that I am very pleased.

On Hyebin, It is surprising how her hair grew so fast. Though at first I was confused on her looks, I can recognize the girl. For me, Hyebin is the most beautiful of them all in the vid.

  • Title of the video must not be misleading – 0 points

This refers only to their group’s name, which is misleading. If the reason not giving zero points to this was on Momoland’s “Hug Me”, that would be acceptable if the song is underrated, and part of the track.

But since this is a lead song, it should bear the subgroup’s name. Name it first as Momola, not Momoland. Take the case of EXO (CBX) and AOA (Cream, Black).

  • Completeness of members – 0 points

As for Ahin, Nancy, and Jane (which the latter two are my biases), it is suggested that they have another collaboration with Erik (with a separate story or not), including the other two.

And for the third time, they did not feature Daisy and Taeha. Although not my biases, it’s heartbreaking to see this. It seems that the agency didn’t take it seriously. As a result, ten points will be assigned to this criterion.

What does this mean? This will be a major pull-down factor for them. Let me fully explain about this.

As explained in the past, MOMOLAND is being plagued by various issues like dating issues, hate from other fandoms, and absenteeism issues. In fact, the latter issue is virtually absent from well-known groups.

If this is not carried out, think how unfair it is for other groups like TWICE, BTS, ASTRO, BLACKPINK, and GFRIEND, who are enduring sickness and sleepless nights in practice and concerts, especially on creating MVs, but managed to be complete.

(In fact, Sowon of GFRIEND reported that they only get four hours of sleep each night in their practice of “Glass Bead”. Even TWICE is not exempted on this, as Sana passed out because she lacked sleep for three days. However, they are still complete.)

It would be unfair for Jendeukie, Cha Eunwoo, and Sowon who were bashed on same issue Daisy is facing, but still continued working. It would also be unfair to their agencies who acted correctly to this issue.

Finally, it would be unfair for other groups like Noir, JBJ, and even Wanna One, who are completing themselves before facing the mainstream media. Also, if this is not considered, it would be unfair for other stars who exerted efforts to be let known by ordinary viewers. (Hello, Yeonwoo!)

Even without Taeha, I would give full points, as I perfectly understand her situation. But not with Daisy. The agency responded wrongly to this case.

This criterion is only exclusive for MOMOLAND, and I will not remove it unless I say so, or unless Yeonwoo will appear on PH mainstream media with other members. Also, I will not give them full ten (10) points for them even if Daisy and Taeha are there. This is to give the two chances to stand out, given that they missed so many events.

(As for Yeonwoo, everytime the group appears on mainstream media, she is always absent. She really has to make up for the times she missed, as some PH Merries ask on her whereabouts. It seems that she is not interested in letting more ordinary Filipinos know about her.)

TweetNewscaster’s Overall Rating: 70.43%

Final Words

Momoland is following the trend this year, which is more on collaboration with foreign artists and on adding more English lyrics. But still, their overall direction for 2019 remains unclear till now.

If you will notice, I skipped Criterion No. 3 to No. 10, as I wanted to focus more on what they must improve. These are all given five points each. Skipped also two criteria on 1theK, which has five and zero points, respectively. Also, the criteria related to dance were removed, as they did not feature their dance.

Honestly, it’s tiring to raise points for improvement if they don’t act on it. So, I have to give a failing grade, though they are one of my most favorite groups in K-Pop. I hope that this review will tell that they have to do something on the issues I explained earlier.

MOMOLAND (모모랜드) – BANANA CHACHA (바나나차차): MV Review

Here we are now again on reviewing MOMOLAND’s recent release called “Banana Chacha”.

Just to give a little background, the song “Banana Chacha” serves as theme song for the Korean cartoon show called “Pororo, The Little Penguin.” This was released yesterday, and fortunately I have time to do a review of it.

To make this article (and other articles) not too lengthy and to finish it, I decided to skip some explanations for some criterion. This will be the case for other MVs to be reviewed. (I see that popular groups like BTS, TWICE, and BLACKPINK are really catching up by releasing their MVs this month.)

You may watch first their video here before proceeding to review proper:

Storyline

  1. Video must have a storyline – 5 points

The storyline is very simple, as they deal on thinking of bananas, and on how they can get it by flying in the air or catching up with trains.

  1. Theme must be consistent and clear – 5 points

They featured bananas consistently and clearly in the video. Added consistency is on the color yellow being the predominant one in the video.

Appearance

  1. The music video as a whole must be colorful – 4 points

I gave only four points as this only features the color yellow. However, that would be fair enough to excite the viewers.

  1. Must be done in good taste – 5 points
  1. Does not celebrate Halloween, Easter, or similar celebrations – 5 points
  1. Does not feature astrology – 5 points
  1. Less horror is featured in the video – 5 points
  1. Not too revealing outfits – 4 points

This revolves on wearing very short shorts in the whole video, but quite decent enough.

Music

  1. Ability of the music to excite the listener – 5 points

Though it lacked the energy present in their other songs, this is nevertheless exciting especially for the kids.

  1. Music should not be deafening on the ears – 5 points

I don’t need to lower the volume as it was not too deafening.

Dance

  1. Dance can be learned easily even by beginners – 5 points

The chorus parts of the song can be learned easily, as it involves only shuffling of feet and waving of hands. Regarding the freestyle dance of the group at 1:45 – 1:50, they will tell you that it is up to us what dance step will we use.

  1. Dance must not be too sensual – 5 points

MOMOLAND improved well on this aspect, as they did not do any sensual moves on this.

Lessons

  1. Moral lesson must be clearly stated – 5 points

The moral lesson that can be seen on the video is on eating well. This is also more on telling viewers to eat fruits, not just bananas.

  1. They must impart something beneficial for their viewers – 5 points

By featuring bananas, they are implicitly telling the viewers to search for its health benefits. It gives us energy and can aid in digestion.

Other Matters

  1. Inject sense of humor in the music video – 1 points

Sorry. I did not see something funny in the music video, albeit the music and dance puts the viewers in good mood.

  1. Ability of the song to make it to mainstream media – 5 points

I am pretty sure of this, as Filipinos are also fond of easy dances. This will certainly be picked by mainstream media as it can be used as a noontime dance challenge. Again, if this is also played at the funeral, I’ll add another point and change the rating below.

(Latest Update: A netizen commented that the song is placed at Top 10 on The Big 20 Charts Philippines. Congratulations!)

  1. Review of the music video as a whole – 3 points

Still, I could not give a complete score to that as they are still incomplete.

As I see it, it is an “extension” of their latest comeback, as can be gleaned on their looks. Why? Their looks were the same as in the previous lead song.

(The time in the video shows that it is a partial song, meaning it has no bridge and follow-up chorus. But anyway, this is not considered in rating this criterion.)

  1. Other factors
  • Cutesy concepts – 5 points

While in I’m So Hot they feature themselves as more mature, in this case they returned back to where they started. They featured again the cutesy concepts which defined the group before Bboom Bboom.

The members who has the most beautiful aegyo are Hyebin and Nancy at 1:08 – 1:09.

  • Uses special effects – 5 points

The group used also special effects to make it not boring. This can be seen throughout the whole video.

  • Shares dance steps with other groups – 5 points

This refers to their dance step at 1:53 – 1:54, wherein they drew inspiration from GFRIEND’s Sunrise (0:50 – 0:51)

  • Features bananas – 5 points

It seems pretty obvious. While Red Velvet in their song Power Up sings bananas but features none, MOMOLAND (and SATURDAY) took charge.

  • Uploads the video to 1theK – 5 points (updated)
  • Features the 1theK logo – 0 points

I understand that they have to do it as they are featuring a cartoon show. But if we talk on having a worldwide K-Pop content, no choice but to rate it at zero points. It is suggested that the logo can be embedded in the end of the video as a small icon, like what they did on I’m So Hot.

  • Completeness of members – 0 points

For the second time, they did not feature Daisy and Taeha. This makes some Merries like me very sad. It’s heartbreaking also to think that the two missed chances to feature themselves further. Let me rant again about this:

It is an open secret that the group is frequently plagued by issues, but the most worrisome is on being incomplete due to health reasons or otherwise. (Yeonwoo is raising red flags on this, such that I am thinking if I will have to remove her from my bias list.)

Second issue is on dating AND on how they responded to it. If we will look at the issue very closely, this should not trigger something negative. The group should learn a little bit of lesson from GFRIEND, particularly on dating issues. If Sowon has issues on being with Cha Eunwoo (of ASTRO), yet the group made comeback on their “Flower” with Sowon, why not also the same be accorded to Daisy?

Supposedly they can be included in the MV. For Daisy, she just have to dance. And for Taeha, she can still be included as the dance steps shown are not too energetic.

Again, I’ll give a perfect score of them in this criterion if and only if they are complete in their next comeback.

For updates, I assigned ten points to this, as I see that the agency does not take this matter seriously.

TweetNewscaster’s Overall Rating: 77.78% (Updated)

Final Words

I understand that this is primarily targeted for kids. But being a famous group, having a music video, it also needs to be critiqued.

If you’ll notice, I removed the criterion related to review from other sites. Definitely, our MV reviewers will not take notice of it. They would not create another review on this.

I’ll definitely and highly recommending this song and dance to be performed in seminars, especially at the morning and after lunch.

On the other hand, the rating I give is now failing grade (which so far, only (G)I-DLE’s Senorita failed to attain 80 percent.) Although they are one of my most favorite K-Pop groups, I have to give this kind of rating, as I want to be more frank about them. Some points need to be seriously considered, especially on being complete.

MOMOLAND (모모랜드/モモランド) – Bboom Bboom Japanese Version (Full English Misheard Lyrics)

And for the nth time, we are on MOMOLAND, with their hit song Bboom Bboom.

It was announced recently that the group will have another comeback next week. This will be a great news! But for the meantime, we will hear again their tune in full English before we bid goodbye to their songs last year.

(Side Note: Pardon also for the very long title.)

Considering the misheard lyrics below, the alternate title for this song is “Love Momo“. Yes, we have to love Momo of TWICE. She gave her name to the group. Ha ha. 😀

Lyrics posted in the video are underlined here.

You may play this video while reading the following contents. Enjoy the misheard lyrics of “Bboom Bboom” (Japanese ver.)(MOMOLAND/모모랜드/モモランド) from TweetNewscaster!

MOMOLAND (모모랜드) – Bboom Bboom (뿜뿜): MV Review

This time, we are now doing a music review of MOMOLAND’s hit song Bboom Bboom.

It may be remembered in my previous write-up that I will do a MV review of it for sure. Well, here it is.

It was recently announced that the group will do another lead song next week. While we are waiting for this, we will first review their hit song. I understand that this was a year ago, and I had to do this just to show you how I rate one of my favorite K-Pop songs.

I also understand that the group “released” it already for so long, but somehow this will help them in their next projects.

You may enjoy first their video here before reading the review itself:

Storyline

  1. Video must have a storyline – 5 points

The storyline must be clear enough even for non-Koreans to understand. Otherwise, they have to explain what the storyline is all about.

1theK, in its official YouTube page, provided a glimpse of the storyline behind Bboom Bboom. It stated that:

The title track ‘BBoom BBoom’, meaning ‘giving off charms’, describes an interesting story ‘to show off my charm so that the person I have a crush on likes me.’

  1. Theme must be consistent and clear – 5 points

They consistently featured a TV shopping channel, alongside their usual plain studio scene. This represents their desire to buy and get the heart of the boy. On the other hand, this might represent their personality as selling themselves to a boy by showing what they got – in this case, various items.

Appearance

  1. The music video as a whole must be colorful – 5 points

I must say that the video is so colorful, and they set it appropriately. The shopping side looks pale, but anyway this served also as an icebreaker. Meanwhile, the gloomy side where Daisy raps is an exception, and I understand this as it was in a slow tempo.

  1. Must be done in good taste – 5 points.

I did not see anything awkward or gross in this MV.

The group made a good choice with regards to this. Yeonwoo in the bridge danced herself in a silhouette instead of revealing herself.

  1. Does not celebrate Halloween, Easter, or similar celebrations – 5 points

No celebrations of any sort was seen in the video, except on throwing confetti at 3:15 – 3:19. The confetti represents the triumph they get when they already attracted the man they love.

  1. Does not feature astrology – 5 points

Nothing in the video featured any kind of astrology.

  1. Less horror is featured in the video – 5 points

I did not see something scary in Bboom Bboom.

  1. Not too revealing outfits –  4 points

While their outfits were not too revealing, they wear short outfits most of the time.

Music

  1. Ability of the music to excite the listener – 5 points

As what I said in my past article, Bboom Bboom clearly hit it right. Together with PENTAGON’s Shine, I almost killed the play button several times with this. And it did not only excite me, but also many Filipinos.

  1. Music should not be deafening on the ears – 4 points

The only factor for that score was that the jazz tune is deafening when played too loud.

Dance

  1. Dance can be learned easily even by beginners – 5 points

I must say that this deserves a perfect score. As we see, many people from all walks of life – from young ones to oldies – learned this song even if they don’t love K-Pop. And I personally can attest to that, as I learned it easily.

  1. Dance must not be too sensual – 4 points

That primarily points out on Yeonwoo on the silhouette. She should have featured only herself with that dance and style at 2:42 – 2:45 throughout the whole bridge, if she wants to do a sexy dance.

Lessons

  1. Moral lesson must be clearly stated – 2 points

I haven’t see something that viewers will learn, particularly on moral lessons.

  1. They must impart something beneficial for their viewers – 5 points

Viewers could learn something even a bit from them, especially on featuring a shopping channel. Daisy and Jane doing exercises, on a mat and hoop respectively, will tell the viewers to move their body. Exercise is good for the health.

Other Matters

  1. Inject sense of humor in the music video – 10 points

I find some scenes in the video funny.

For instance, Nancy was sad, and afterwards pouts her face at 0:21 – 0:23. Then at 2:06 – 2:09, Nancy rushed to finish her make-up. I find this funny as she thinks on how to beautify herself, then as she realized it, she rushes to her make-up.

Another funny part is at 1:23 – 1:29, when JooE had gone crazy after taking a juice drink.

  1. Ability of the song to make it to mainstream media – 5 points

With exciting tune, no doubt it reached mainstream media. Many celebrities also danced to this tune. And I always hear it even when I am going to work.

And for the information of everybody, this had not only reached mainstream media. This has also been played at a funeral! Watch this:

  1. Review by other sites – 5 points

Comments from netizens follow:

The song is so catchy wtf

Idc if this is “copied” or not, this song is always in my mind.

Jooe’s energy is so infectious, she’s so crazy and fun and cute and omg I’ve got the biggest girl crush on her!
We all have that song you play so many times till u get sick of it. I am never going to get sick of this one
SOMEBODY HELP ME, THIS IS SO ADDICTIVE

Seoulbeats summarized the song as “disorganized”. However, it noted that the group used JooE’s viral energetic performance of “Wonderful Love,” and integrated it into the video. It is not surprising why JooE, alongside Daisy, has the most energetic moves in the video.

It seems disorganized, as other members like Taeha in the infomercials were given only split seconds to be featured. On the visuals, it suggested that less time be allocated on featuring the dance, and more time be given to shopping commercials. Its positive note is on the catchy graphics.

Obsessed and Assessed reviewed the video very positively. In fact, it told that he/she might recommend it. The blogger made a good observation that the video was full of energy. Though not original, it was fun, to say the least. The blogger ended the article telling that it was a very good start for the group for 2018, and hopes that JooE’s popularity will take her fellow members too.

(By the way, if you will ask Filipinos about this, JooE is not so famous unlike Nancy.)

AllKPop reviewed Bboom Bboom as going away from their usual merry-go-round concept. It reviewed positively the elements of music present except the rapping part.

TheBiasList also noted JooE’s rising popularity, which made her group known. It also noted that the group were fortunate to pair with producer Shinsandong Tiger, who made a suitable tune for them. Nevertheless, it was not catchy enough.

  1. Review of the music video as a whole – 5 points

So far, this is one of my favorite K-Pop dances. They used dual themes to render it not too boring. Aside from that, they made a good choice on music and dance.

  1. Other factors
  • Features the 1theK logo – 5 points

MOMOLAND is part of 1theK group.

The logo is featured on several instances. But the most conspicious part is that of JooE, where she dances upon taking a juice drink.

  • Ability to inspire other songs – 5 points

It should be remembered that SATURDAY drew inspiration on this, through their song Wi-Fi. As a full-pledged Merry, I also noticed that, but I don’t care. It’s so sad that some Merries treated this negatively.

Meanwhile, I also noticed that the instrumental of Wi-Fi can be sung with lyrics of Bboom Bboom. Try that by clicking here and singing Bboom Bboom at the same time. It is because their tune also shares similarities with the hit song.

  • Music reaches funeral shops – 5 points

Recently updated this article to reflect unusual events that may be given credit. This is also to fulfill my promises in the next article regarding this.

It is given that we play the happy tracks upon the request of the deceased. This is not in any way amounting to disrespect to the solemnity of the burial rites. But somehow, playing tracks like Bboom Bboom tells the relatives not to grieve so much, and instead remember the happy moments with them.

TweetNewscaster’s Overall Rating: 94.54%

Final Words

I may have rated it too high, but they had satisfied almost all of the criteria I laid earlier.

As for this group, this song became a turning point for their rise in popularity.

Many don’t know that this would be their last song if Bboom Bboom did not prosper to what we know today. MOMOLAND would have to undergo the same situation Wanna One and I.O.I. experienced when they disbanded.

This song helped them to be on the radar, alongside other famous groups like BTS and TWICE. With some points for improvement, hope this helps them in their succeeding projects. And who knows, they might be recognized as one of the leading groups in the industry.

Good day, readers! Here we are again on featuring MOMOLAND (모모랜드/モモランド) with their Japanese version of BAAM. We are on the third time featuring misheard lyrics of Japanese songs. I must admit that I publish limited articles relating to these as the language itself is less flexible as compared to Korean.

But anyway, for the love of the group, I had to do this. Hope all Merries and other K-Pop fans will appreciate this.

TWICE’s Momo joins Momoland

GYEONGGI Province, South Korea – Welcome to Momoland!

The underrated song from the K-Pop girl group might hold true as TWICE member Momo returns to Momoland. In fact, all nine members are preparing for the welcoming ceremonies, and plans to use their song Welcome to Momoland as their theme song for Momo.

Momo, if added, will be formally named as the tenth member of the now famous K-Pop girl group.

Momo revealed that she is the founder of Momoland, and that’s how the group got its name. She told, “그룹의 창립자이며 내가 시작한 곳으로 돌아가서 내가 집에 온다고 느끼게합니다. 나는 그룹의 일원으로 다시 행복하고 영광입니다.” (Being the founder of the group, and going back to where I started makes me feel that I am home. I am happy and honored to be part of the group again.)

Secret member

Momo, even if she was the founder, did not initially join the group as regular member, since JYP Entertainment picked her as part of TWICE. To avoid schedule conflicts with her new group and Momoland, the remaining seven members decided to name Momo as their secret member.

As secret member, Momo does not participate in everything the group does. (Many people thought that I am the leader of the group, but it’s actually Momo. She may be seen on TWICE, but she also works for our group. She was our consultant from the start up to now.)

Full support

The Japanese girl was expressing her support for the group that bears her name.

For instance, Momo had visited Daisy in a reality show Finding Momoland two years ago. According to her, she has to support her longtime friend:

It should be remembered that they became JYP trainees. Even if Daisy had parted ways with the said agency, their friendship remained. Momo’s visit became frequent when Daisy had been eliminated from Momoland’s reality show.

Daisy recalled that the seven original members initially wanted to rename their group as Dublekick, to make their group stand out.

“그러나 나는 모모의 관심에 감동을 받았다. 그래서 나는 그들이 그 이름을 유지하도록 요청했다.” (But I was touched with Momo’s concern for me. That’s why I requested them to retain the name.)

“저와 태차가 그룹에 가입했을 때 그 그룹의 이름이었습니다. ‘웰검투모모 랜드’라는 노래로 우리를 맞이했습니다. 모모가 우리와 함께하지 않더라도 그녀의 존재는 여전히 우리와 함께합니다.”  (That was the group’s name when I and Taeha joined the group, greeting us with the song ‘Welcome to Momoland’. Even if Momo is not with us, her presence is still with us.)

Bboom Bboom by Momo

Also, Momo’s fondness of the now-famous song “Bboom Bboom” had been evident, with her sample dance of the song together with Nayeon:

She danced it again in a reality show, this time with Dahyun:

Future plans

What would be Momo’s plans now that she’s back in Momoland?

Momo, in a separate interview, bared that “내가 돌아 왔으므로 나는 모 놀 랜드에서 노래를 번역 할 수있는 지식과 능력을 가지고 있습니다. 이것은 일본 팬들과 나의 그룹에게 큰 도움이 될 것입니다.” (Since I’m back, I have the knowledge and ability to translate songs from Momoland. This will be a big help for our Japanese fans and for my group as well.)

Previously, they hired external choreographers to do dance moves for them. With Momo back in Momoland, the nine members promoted her as their lead choreographer, due to her ability to dance.

The Japanese star accepted the role, telling that it is not new to her. Momo recalled, “나는 당신이 노래’래기’에서 보는 것처럼 그것을했다.”  (I had done that, as what you see in the song ‘Likey’.)

Reactions

When asked on Momo’s return, Jane had been elated on welcoming her. “우리는 우리 그룹에 그녀를 다시 포함 시켜서 기쁘게 생각합니다.” (We are happy to include her again in our group,) she told.

Ahin had also been excited on Momo. She remarked, “우리가 성장함에 따라 다양성을 보여야하기 때문에 더 많은 프로젝트를 기대하고 있습니다. 더 많은 것, 메리스!” (As we grow, we have to show diversity, so we are expecting more projects with her. The more, the Merries!)

Yeonwoo expressed that “Bbem Bbem, Bbim Bbim, Bbum Bbum과 같은 새로운 곡을 출시하려는 우리 그룹의 계획과 함께 새로운 안무를 필요로하는 일본인 연주자를 그룹의 위대한 자산으로 꼽을 수 있습니다.”  (With the plan of our group to release new songs like Bbem Bbem, Bbim Bbim, and Bbum Bbum, which need new choreographic moves, we can count on the Japanese performer as our great asset to the group.)
